The Red Letter Bible serve’s as the inspiration for the name “Read the Red”. The Ministry originated in 2009 for the purpose of spreading the Gospel through song and testimony. Read the Red has evolved to include Community and Regional Outreaches along with the Musical Ministry, Prison, Nursing Home, Homeless & Addiction Rehabilitation…showing the love of Jesus wherever needed.
Read the Red Ministries purpose is to lead the lost to Christ and to encourage them to be part of a local, Bible-believing, God-honoring church.
The desire of Read the Red Ministry is to see those, once lost, reach their potential… those who were once victims become victors and those who were once powerless to find the power of Jesus.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?”
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” …Matthew 25:35-40
Meet Pastor Dan & Sheila Poer
Pastor Dan Poer’s testimony is one of addiction, heartbreak, redemption and new life. After a lifetime of drug & alcohol abuse, Dan recovered his love and commitment to Christ – knowing that it is only because of God’s mercy, love, and strength that this battle in his life has been won.
Pastor Dan went through the Teen Challenge Program in 2006. This program was instrumental in leading Dan back to Christ, after graduation, he attended Ministry School graduating in 2008. Dan worked for Pensacola Teen Challenge until 2012 and is still very involved in the Teen Challenge Ministry leading Worship & Testimony Services at facilities throughout the Southeast Region.
Pastor Dan is a Worship Leader reaching the lost through worship, always willing to share his story. His heart is in helping people with addictions find effective Christ centered recovery programs. Dan is a committed disciple and a true testimony to the power of Christ’s redeeming blood.
In 1994 Sheila met the love of her life. Unfortunately a few years after they were married, it all started to crumble. Alcohol began to take over Dan’s life, playing music in the bars turned into full blown alcoholism. After several years they were separated. It took another year for Dan to hit bottom and realize he could not change on his own, he needed help.
Shortly after entering Teen Challenge, he rediscovered the God he had met as a child. The journey began not only for Dan, but also for Sheila. Never giving up on the man she loved, it was a long road. After being separated for a year, Dan spent a year in Teen Challenge learning how to live without alcohol and growing in the ways of Christ.
Left with a mortgage and a daughter at home, Sheila had to hold it all together, somehow. God saw her need and met it every time. From the best paying job that came out of nowhere to Christian friends who held her up in the weeks and months of her greatest need. While in Teen Challenge they were allowed to visit on Sundays to attend church services and once a month weekend visits. After Teen Challenge Dan pursued a degree in ministry in Jacksonville, Fl. Another year, they visited. Times were hard but it was worth it. Three years to have a wonderful man of God! Sheila’s heart for the ministry is to share the love of Jesus and the power of change He brings to broken lives. To show His love to discarded people, and provide for the poor and lonely.
“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story – those He redeemed from the hands of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south… then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.” – Psalm 107:2-14.
